WASHINGTON, Feb. 4, 2010 - Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack today appointed six members to serve on the National Mango Board. The members will serve three-year terms beginning immediately and ending on Dec. 31, 2012.
The following members have been reappointed: Venancio Marti, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico; and Anthony R. Godinez, McAllen, Texas.
The following members have been newly appointed: Ronald Cohen, Fort Lee, N.J.; Ken Nabal, Delray Beach, Fla.; Guillermo Marin Palmeros, Veracruz, Mexico; and Olaf Rasch, Guatemala City, Guatemala.
In accordance with the Commodity Promotion Research, and Information Act of 1996, and the Mango Promotion, Research and Information Order, USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service provides oversight and monitors the operations of the board. Under the order, first handlers and importers pay an assessment at the rate of a half-cent per pound on all mangos.
